On July 2, 2024 Our property Manager and Treasurer were called by First national Bank (Co-Op's Bank) to verify a check. The Check number given us showed to be issued to a legitimate vendor for $2, 635.00. The check that was brought before the bank with the same check# was made out an individual not associated with Zellwood Station or the vendor. The check was cashed at the Sorento First National Bank. Our Property Manage notified the Orange County Sheriff's Office and filed an Identity Theft report. Upon reviewing the fraudulent check it was determined that the two corporate signatures on the check were fraudulent as well. First National Bank will be reimbursing Zellwood Station for the loss and has taken steps to immediately ensure that for a temporary time all checks presented to a teller will be verified prior to cashing. At this time the investigation is being handled by the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
