Co-Op Insurance Policy

As you are all aware insurance has been the topic here in Florida. The issue is not just residential and auto but commercial insurance as well. At the beginning of our process to renew the Zellwood Station Co-Op Property Insurance we were told by our Broker that we would be looking at an increase. Our Broker, Assured Partners, shops the State for viable companies interested in providing an Insurance quote. Our current policy expired on July 9, 2023. We renewed the policy on July 7, 2023.

2022 Cost - $118,000

2023 Cost - $132,000

One of the processes that did not help us was our last Insurance Appraisal was in 2019. At our June Board Meeting the BOD approved having an Appraisal conducted ASAP. Although the appraisal is not complete we have been assured by our Broker that once completed it will be provide to our insurers who will review the document and could result in a reduction in cost.

It is important that we maintain our shareholder owned infrastructure and provide a safe environment for our residents and visitors. Maintaining our facilities and addressing safety concerns is a priority for this Board.
